tires
on my 98 gt i have the stock 17inch wheels and i need tires bad. i was planning on buying wheels also but not right now...i was wondering if 315's would fit on the stock rear rims...then when i get new rims i can switch them over (i'm getting 17in black bullitt deep dish). anyone know if that would work?
by the way i attached a picture of wat my tires look like now and the new ones im gettin (cheap) |

they're 17x8, right? those rims are too narrow for 315's. you might be able to get away with 275's on a 8" rim, but 315 is too wide. i'd go DD and put 315's on then.

going with a tire thats too big for the rim will cause it to wear quicker form what ive been told. also it decreases cornering a little but becuase the rim can 'slide' on the tire.

if its 17x8 stick with a 275 max, if its a 17x9 you might be able to squeeze on a nitto 315, u wont have much sidewall, rendering the big tire useless... it might even appear to be skinnier then 275...

Nittos run small, so a 285 nitto would fit, but thats aobut it.
