Clutch?

I have a 1997 mustang gt and want to get a new upgraded clutch. I want a good clutch that can hold alot of power, isn't real expensive, grips real good, and isn't that hard to push, this is a dd. My price range is no higher that $350. I was looking at centerforce, act, king cobra, spec, etc. What would you guys recommend or what do you have in your car that you really like?

Thanks,
Mike

I have a SPEC 1 Clutch in my car. Just got it in about 500 miles ago. It's a pretty good clutch, cost me a little less than 200 bucks, so it was a good deal.

It takes a little bit to get used to, and you have to drive it just right but other than that its pretty good. I'd recommend it.

Does your SPEC 2 grab when the pedal is most of the way released? Mine seems a lot grabby at once its more like an off/ on switch, where as the stock clutch slowly grabs as you release the pedal and this is more all at once.

It sounds like a lot of you like you spec clutches. I want something that is going to grab like you wouldn't believe. Do spec clutches grab real hard? And i was thinking about a spec stage 3.

Yeah mine's only a SPEC 1, but it grabs pretty damn well. A SPEC 2 would grab even better i can imagine. The 3 tho, is a pretty much all out drag clutch, and probably wouldn't be that great for a street car.. you'd get a strong left leg for sure. I'd recommend a SPEC 2

You think a spec 2 will hold 550hp and like 600tq?

It will hold 620 ft lb of torque, maybe you would want to go with the spec 3 then i can take 680 ft lb of torque.

Yeah, it will be a lot stiffer than the stock clutch for sure. But you'll have to have a stiff tough clutch with that much torque. Plus you'll get a sexy left leg

Yeah, but it will still be easier than a spec 3. I haven't ever driven a car with a spec 3 so i wouldn't know for sure. But it will still be fairly stiff. My SPEC 1 even gets tiring after lots of stop and go driving.
