me vs ls1 3rd gen


well this guy has been downing me and running his mouth on a local car forum he has a full bolt on ls1 in a 3rd gen 4.10s and suspention ..
keeps telling me im slow and hes sure hes alot faster well

well i finaly give into him wanting to run knowing im going to loose ..

we ran three times

1st run i pulled out the hole 1st and 2nd and missed third right about when he was next to my door
2nd run same thing 3rd has been giving me problems

3rd run 3rd gear roll at 3500 rpm were dead even in third, he pulls about 2-3 cars in 4th

my buddie ran him with his 06 Z and was damn close, the camaro krept a car from him at the end


i ran a buddies 06 Z mods unknown hes a lil sneeky .lol
3rd we were neck and neck and 4th also he pulled a car by the top of my 4th and i had no more motor left .

yeah i wanna know the mods too because you better have some serious forced induction if you think im gonna belive you were side by side with a FULL BOLT ON LS1 until 4th gear.

man i had a 99 z28 automatic and use to stomp the SHIT out of 96-98 N/A and the 99+ GT's and i do mean stomp the SHIT out of them

IN an automatic none the less

I even had one guy i let jump 1st gear on me and i floored it, bout the time i reached 100mph i wuz flyin by him.

Guy was hestatic sayin WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN THAT THING

I smurked with a simple K@N air filter

LS1's are fuckin BEAST, i almost traded my 96gt for a 00 Trans Am till I found out its not so easy to bolt on power like with the GT's so that sort of kills the fun of a project car.

OH BTW I have seen a 98 cobra keep up with a ls1 on dig , the camaro was stock and the cobra had a few bolts on but the big key was the 4:10 gears.

All in All chevy produces a mean ass 350 motor simply put.

I can testify to LS1's owning 96-04GTs. I had a stock 03 GT and my friends used to walk me everyday in there SS and Trans Am.

One day a 98 atlantic blue cobra came rolling intothe parking lot talking smack, all 4 of us ran.......I was stock on the 03, the SS had a gay tuner and a k&n and 4.10's. the trans am had a cat back and the higher stock gear ratio for that car. The cobra had 3.73, midpipe, and cat back.

The SS and Trans Am were neck and neck cause the SS couldn't drive stick for shit and the TA was auto, and they were a constant 2 car lengths on us since i hit 3rd gear, and the cobra was only about half a nose infront of me, pulling slightly......

LS1 pown all........ y else do u think they made a 390hp supercharged cobra? Because LS1>N/A 4v>N/A 2v

yeh man they rape the ish outta tangs thats why ppl give us some much crap, i pulled into a turbo tunner shop the other day and was askin how much he'd do me a turbo kit

I started with, I want to make this thing to outrun SS camaros what do i have to do

Guy said

Told me hes put a blower on 96 stangs and barely got 300hp at the wheels says our mustang is the bottom of the food chain. However I knew all of this so he didn't really help me out any. And after finding out his prices I didn't like the guy much after that anyways.

He was putting a vortech kit on a newer saleen and said the bill would b a lil over 10k

I thought WTF 10k!~? Man I hope that guy got some goodies that I dont know about or he got seriously jacked.

Well if he's putting on a full kit with intercooler, the parts alone would cost over 6k........

and he's right about NPI mustangs not making more then 300rwhp. The average blower produces half the horsepower it started with....... so a 190rwhp 4.6 is only going to gain a whopping 85rwhp.....u'd be lucky to hit 300 with full exhaust, allum driveshaft, and T/b plenum combo..... I had a long conversation with my local shop about getting my car over the 300 mark with a blower, and he laughed at me until i told him what was already done to the car.

A lot of times these shops have people coming in off the street who know jack about the car, and because the custemor has that clean canvas so to speak, the owners/workers tend to try and paint there point of view on u. Its very rare a person like ACMiller, or Ujstlost, walk into a speed shop and hand there money to someone and say "make my car go fast," ussually when someone has the ability to figure out how to get something to go fast, they tend to have the ability to make it fast themselves

I plan on eventually going blown with my car, and thats y i went 66% PI, because when the time comes, that extra 45hp is gonna make a world of diference.......

Yeh PI is a must if you want to get those real numbers, that was one of the first things the guy said was to change the heads/cams/instake cause they were horrible, course I knew that.

But yeh mechanics try to shoot u the shit like u dont kno jack till u make em recognize

I remeber I was having an overheating issue and called a shop about parts and he tried to scam me into bringing it in tellin me it could b ALL kinds of problems.

I'm like fooL i called for parts i already hooked up a voltmeter to my ccrm and pcm and its got power so i need PART PRICE ON A DAMN FAN MOTOR lol and i want the 97 entire assembly model cuz it gives better flow, guy gave me respect quick after that.

there was video of the run but due to the guy with the 3rd gen bringing all of his buddies on to the highway with us .my buddie that was videoing the run diddent get much at all due to a bunch of slow f-bodys and a focus

to top it off my buddies 06 Z bone stock hung with the guy buy 1 car back and was dead nuts the secound run ..

the ls1 owner claims car goes 12.9 on slicks and it fully bolt on .. i dont belive the fully bolt on part because if its true its dumb slow for whats done to it ..

hell even a stock LS1 should have owned me but idk thats what happend ..

my car as far as mods ... ive posted it time and time again only thing diff now is i have taylor 10.4 wires and screamin demon coil packs ...

the 06 Z has a hell of a driver behind the wheel .. he is bone stock

car is a factory freak, he beat a 103 car last weekend

me and the Z ran and all through out 4th were dead even untill i run out of motor in 4th

from a dig it might have been a diff storie idk ..

you may have posted it time and time again...but w/o knowing what your mods are...people are going to keep on pulling out the bs flag because that ls1 should have raped you.

i have a ebay cold air a ,free hurst shifter, a 1/2 plenum spacer,still have stock plenum on car , a 75mm t body ,free 4.10s

i swear that all i have

no boost no spray, just a lil N/A NPI Mustang

yea should have but couldent get her to hook down low ..and from a 45 roll he diddent pull ...

any one can pull the b.s flag if they want to i know what happend and i know what should have happend but thats not always the outcome ...

why does my bolt on npi beat mild bolt on PI Car s ?

Call B.s on that to a guess?

for under 3500 bucks
im doing a single t-67 percision turbo
intercooled est.450+RWHP 8-10psi
