Will It Fit?

Im still looking into swapping my 2v motor out with 4v cobra motor. I'm looking at a 2002 cobra motor and transmission. Will they fit in my 97 GT. Are all 4.6 motors pretty much interchangable with the 96 and up mustang bodys. What about transmissions?

It should fit...But they only made the Cobra in Australia in 2002 if I am not mistaken...

You should not have much problem making the 4 valve fit...You have to splice the injector harness and the maf harness in and get a 4 valve tune on your computer...That is all that I am aware that is involved in the swap...

Nice, so everything bolts up ok. That was the main thing I was worried about. I knew the harness and ecm had to be changed. As far as it being a 2002 motor, when I posted I couldnt remember the exact year, but its in that range. What about tranny? Everything line up with that ok?

The tranny is a different story...I think they use the T-3650 and you have a T-5 in your car if it is an auto...You would have to swap trannies I believe...I would just go with a 96-98 4V out of a cobra...I think they use the same tranny...I dont know 100% for sure though...

The blocks are the same on the mod motors...

The motor comes with the tranny bolted on. Looking back I guess I didnt clarify that to well, sorry. I can use the newer tranny and motor together in my 1997 GT though. (BTW it is a 5 speed).

Ok the motor is out of 2003 cobra, tranny for that year is a t-56 six speed.

Its up to 2025.00. I just hope I can get it, otherwise I am going to be looking for a wrecked 03 04 cobra.

Hey, I talked to a local guy here who just deals in wrecked mustangs. He thinks he can get me a wrecked 03 04 cobra for 2 or 3k.

How much taller is the 03 04 motor??

Also, if I get one can I interchange all the suspension, brakes to my 97. I know the new motor would be hard on my stock rear axle, so it would be nice to swap it with the newer one. Change in driveshaft length, angle??

It sounds kind of crazy dont it. But I asked the guy and he told me he would check on it and was very confident he could do it. I've got my fingers crossed.

He has 3 2006 mustangs 2 are gts and one is a v6. He repairing them for his wife, son, and one to sell.

Well the guy found two one is out of price range. The other is a parts only and has a current bid of 1800 dollars. It does not go up for auction for another month though. I'll just have to wait it out.
