I just went out to check it, n well i stick it in, wait a couple secs, pull it out n the damn stick comes out dry...so should i jus add more oil or drain it n put new ????? and since i dont have time now id like to opt jus addin more oil in, would that be a problem ??? all opinions would be appreciated, also i forgot what we use, is it 5 or 10-30 ?

i would go ahead and change it all and then check it again. you don't want to just keep addin oil cuz #1 it could get kinda costly and 2 you never wanna over fill and engine, you'll start blowin' seals.

yeah just to be on the safe side that way you got a fresh start. thats what i'd do cuz i don't think you want to be replacing the motor unexpectedly.

yea and also if it comes out dry dont drive it till you get it filled because you could be a couple of quarts low or completley dry and i wouldnt risk finding out the hard way been there done that old truck blown motor to prove it lol

When you checked the oil,was the car cold or hot ? You should check it cold,to get an accurate reading. And always keep your oil change and filter change on the same schedule.

I would drain it all, then add 5 quarts. After you fill it,run if for a few minutes, and shut it off and let it cool completely, then check the level. You also wanna use 5w-30 .The factory usually uses 5w-20 on some models, but thats just for better fuel economy to meet federal standards.

Does your car have over 75,000 miles ? Then you need a high mileage oil that will help protect seals and older moving parts. Get a 5w-30 high mileage oil.

Also,if you engine is real dirty, clean it off real good,so that way after you run it again, you can tell if you are lossing any oil around gaskets etc.
