Check all fuses, inside and out first. Then look for any loose wires to fix or tape up with electrical tape. Finally, check all grounds.

I'd try looking for any bare wires. Maybe some of the insulation came off and a wire is touching bare metal

The wire is red? That means its a HOT/Power wire usually, so if it is grounding out to the chassis it is shorting and that is why things got so hot. Any major electrical issues/noticeable electrical issues at all prior to?

Gotcha. A burnt useable link is generally indicative of there being another issue, as it burns up, and opens the circuit, in order to protect other components.

If the wire was added by a previous owner/someone else, it may indicate that this is an issue that has been ongoing.

Gotcha, in that case I would recommend finding out where it should be connected and reconnecting. May or may not fix the issue but I am optimistic that it will.
