its still unjustified for me... That's a bandwagon excuse..

Dont take offense...i just dont see the point of a lifted mustang....It has it's purpose and it was never meant for offroad...Thats what 4x4s are for... I dont care what you do to that cobra.. If i raced you in my jeep on a dirt road from the dig i'd easily leave you in the dust...literally and you have a lot more hp but hp isn't the issue...it's traction.. high torque rwd mustang wont get traction like a stroker 4wd jeep will...

Not shooting you down, thats just my reasoning for why i wouldn't do something like that.

No offense taken, I’m just not a big jeep fan.

I have an off road vehicle already, that works great for back roads and work and back duty. It’s just not fast enough or fun enough for me.

I want a cobra that does not get hung up on speed bumps, and can handle dirt and gravel roads well. Is that asking too much? I don't plan on racing it, but I would like to have fun in it, somewhere other than a congested highway.

So, if anyone has some useful information, I would sure appreciate it. <kiss>

a stock gt suspension should do u fine. my 98 handled fine on gravel at 100+. it was pretty smooth too, and the gravel road down here suck. but im used to them. but i would of liked to lower the front like an inch though, because it didnt like to steer to well. but i wouldnt lift over stock. it wouldnt look right.

Im not a jeep fan myself honestly but it's faster than my stang will ever be offroad... lifted or not... ANd i've never been hung up over a speed bump...dirt and gravel messes up my stang's cosmetics...Paint aint cheap..lol

but your car your money...Sounds like a completely custom setup to me and no one stocks any type of lift kits for a mustang... Good luck.. It wont be easy...It'll be fairly involved and a built rear end will be in order if you'll be using larger tires...

Go find a stock sn95 and see how that works... they ride pretty high stock. I called it my 4x4 before I put my eibach springs on it. It was almost volvo cross country wagon high.

I second the stock GT stuff idea, they ride pretty damn high.Speed bumps and back roads would pose you no problem. This would be pretty cheap to do as well,I'm sure getting someone to give you a set of stock coil springs would take nothing short of a post asking for them. Then you could just go to Autozone or Advance Auto and pick up standard heavy duty shocks for your year pretty damn cheap.

Thanks guys. Stock GT springs and adjustable preload rear lower control arms are on the way.

Then comes the front...It's not looking too cheap.

Thanks for the offer 97, but I found a new set on ebay and they are on the way.

I would be interested in tubular front lower control arms, adjustable coil over conversion with longer struts and a k member support tho...if you just happen to have those laying around.

Strut info

In my quest for a longer strut for the front I came up with the following:

Bilstein 21.25 extended 15.94 compressed

Koni 25.67 extended 14.52 compressed

KYB 20.8 extended 19.7 compressed

Gabriel 22.44 extended 12.17 compressed

Information gathered from manufacturers, however I am unsure where exactly they measured from.

The koni tech guy was pretty cool and indicated that an older t-bird (not sure of the year...maybe 80's coupe?) has the same bolt pattern on the lower strut housing with longer travel.

Anyone have any info on this?

That's something i would have to look at myself to tell you if it's true or not... From experience i wouldn't know.. You're not going to read anything like that anywhere or find any diagrams or anything either.. You'll have to basically go off of his word...unless someone here knows... If they don't fit, you can always send em back...
