86 gt shock and struts on a 97 gt

Ok kinda different idea i have struts and shocks for my 86 gt and i bought a 97 gt and they are shot on there so will they fit on the 97? I am looking at buying some 1.5" lowering springs to go on it as well. I took the quad shocks of the 86 for wider tires and couldn't tell that any thing was different in the wheel hope is there any reason to keep them on the 97

Why wouldn't the fronts? My spindles are of a 95 that are on the 86 and the bolted right up. Also will the 97 springs fit on the 86?
