How Wide Can I Go?

How wide of a tire can I throw on a 8.5" rim? I currently run a 275 and I've heard that's as big as I can go but if I can safley run a 285-295 I would love to. Can anyone help me out?

Stick to the 275 and be safe.

You could probably fit a 295, I'd suggest sticking with a 275 as well. I definately wouldn't call 295's "safe", though it may be fairly safe on the rear wheels only.

I have 17x8's on my 98 Gt and i tried 295 and it wouldnt fit.

I saw a set of stock bullitt rims (17 x 8) with 305's on them

Looked like they were gonna explode off the rim, heh.

How the fuck did he even get them seated!!!!

I tried to put mine on my rims and they just spun around the rim. Couldnt seat them at all. lol. Kyle gave me some 17' 295's.

when I saw the tire bulge.

HELL NO! 315's look hot! :wink

I know for sure a 305 won't rub, but with 315's I've heard of guys removing the quad shock to gain clearance, you need U/L CA's to do that though. I'd go with the 305 just to be safe but 315's are bad ass looking!

so to put 315s i would have to do some some taking stuff off and stuff..i just want to slip the wheel on and thats it...so basically go with 305s
