Question Bout 8.8" Rear End And 28 / 31 Spline

so my car is a 98gt, so I kno I got a stock 8.8" rear end but do I got 28 or 31 spline axle ???

theres a pretty nice differential for 8.8 ends that got 31 spline axle at americanmuscle.com but Incase i decide to get a differential from fordracing.com what one is the one that would be best to have great traction and make both of my wheels spin not just one...

tracktion-lok,auburn HD, auburn pro 2, or the T2 torsen differential ??? I think all those fit 8.8" ends with 31 spline axles is there a right n wrong one or its just up to me, of how much I wanna pay being they all diff prices?

Stock axles are 28 spline. You already have a trac-loc differential, so both wheels should spin unless you need a rebuild... if so it would be a good time to upgrade to 31 spline diff and axles. I should say though, that you won't need to upgrade unless you do some track duty with sticky tires.

oh so then i got 28s but i do got a 8.8" rear end right ? well i might get some 31s so i can get a 31 spline lsd. Im gonna be tryin to uprade everythin to make my car ligher, I was thinkin bout the k-member. Is it better to wait on gettin a better lighter k-member when i swap my engine and its out or its possible to do it with ur engine bein in place ?

Yes you have an 8.8 rear end. Yes you can swap the k-member with the engine in the car, not that difficult a job (though it will take some time). Make sure you get everything you need, like getting spring perches if your not going coil over etc. One of our vendors was selling a kit I think, try looking through their forums.

Yea i know that if i go for the k-member im gonna have to get a coilover kit, atleast for the front, but will wait on that so that when i do i can get coilover kit for front and rear. thanx.

EDIT- this is what i need for the k member....right ?

Tubular front control arms (stock control arms are not compatible because of the large outside diameter of the pivot bushings)

Caster/Camber plates

Front Coil-Over conversion kit

Aluminum steering rack bushings

MM Adjustable Tie-Rod Ends
