Full Exhaust Question
So I asked before about my performance mods as a whole, and I took the advice I got from you guys, so thanks again for that. But since then I've been re-thinking my exhaust setup specifically, and now I'm in need of input again. Here's what I'm looking for:
- Longtube headers - Catted, shorty, h-pipe (not o/r midpipes) - Catback Really I just need some exact part models and brand names for suggestions since I do already know all the part-types I want. Thanks guys. |

well first off why not o/r pipe and second in case u didnt know LTs are really expensive and u mite wanna put the money towards gears or PI heads
as far as the catback i belive slp is gonna be pretty much the loudest but if you want deeper i think ive heard pyeps and mac b4

Yeah I know LTs run a little higher price wise, that's fine. I've seen shorty headers and LTs compared price-wise, but I haven't really been able to make a decision on exact brands to buy. And I like the sound from catted H-pipes better than o/r H-pipes or X-pipes, aside from wanting a street-legal mod in hopes of passing emissions (not too concerned with it, but not having to swap exhaust parts just for a dumb test would be nice!)

I'm still very undecided, especially since I don't have all these different exhaust setups to hear in person. I think Pypes is alright, so how would a Pypes 409 Violator catback sound with Pypes 304 L/T headers and Pypes O/R shorty H-pipe (changed my mind about o/f, doesn't matter what mid-pipe).
I just want an exhaust that is louder than stock, but not obnoxious (purs/low-rumble at idle -> loud and "intimidating" at WOT), and obviously a decent horsepower gain. Thanks. |

Go to youtube or streetfire......or the exhaust section. Theres plenty of exhaust videos out there to watch

Ridlde me this...... How come a 96+ GT will pass emmissions test (- visual of course) with a O/R pipe, granted the car has no CELs and is in good running condition......? Answer.....i have no idea, thats y it's a riddle...... ![]() but anyway, if u can get a 4.6 to go through the smog catless y cant u get her to pass with cats and LT's? |

^ im just sayin that if ur gonna run the risk of putting LT's on and tryin to pass emissions, u might as well go ahead and run an o/r pipe because of the horse power gains and the fact that its cheaper.
And u probably will pass with either LT's or o/r midpipe or both simply because alot of people who do these inspections simply dont give a shit. thats is the obvious explanation for y a car with an o/r midpipe will pass emissions.

the dif between cats and no cats is 3hp..........
and no, beleive it or not, thats not how it happens. Maybe years ago, but not now. Especially in my state, NY. The only shops that will pass u here if u have an o/r are shops that get an ok go ahead from a local speed shop, or u know the person doing the inspection personally. I believe the fine is somewhere in the 10k range if u pass a car that shouldn't pass inspection. Believe me, people doing inspections give a shit. |
