should I tune?

Hey guys its been a while but for the cause. While ive been gone i took it upon myself to Take off the stock h pipe and throw on a catless off road h pipe, 75 mm throttle body w/ plenium, and bbk cold air intake, new intake manifold ( old one leaked). should i get it tuned or is this not a big deal? ps should i go with 3.55 or 3.73 from 2.73? Its a 96 gt. what going to be the difference in gas milage?

I would say that its not a big deal if you do not get tuned. You could get a set of mils and call it a day. If you want a tune hit me up and i can help you out.

I wouldnt get a tune yet, and out of those two choices get 3.73's. Most people will recommend 4.10's over 3.73's though. And there wont be much of a gas mileage change.

honestlly, if u do a lot of highway driving 3.73 or 3.90's.

People say on the highway with a complete exhaust it get's loud. Combined with current gas prices the argument ussually goes to 3.73's.

But i really don't give 2 shits about what people say. 4.10's or bust brotha.

i would get the tune...i feel like people only get tune when they have alot of mods...a tune is a mod and it adds power and other things to a stock engine...i would go ahead and get a tune and 4.10's... americanmuscle makes a kit

on a NPI motor the power is almost un noticeble.

Realiskcly, on a NPI motor, U don't start to feel anything until u open the car up and let her breath better. With a CAI, Midpipe, and CatBack, u'll gain 15rwhp. Seperately, 3,7, and 2, respectively.

U add a tune to that, u can possible turn those 15 hp into 25 extra RWHP, instead of the 5 u'll get with just the tune. then when u get pulleys, u can retuned and pick up an extra 10 instead of the 8 it would yeaild minus the tune.

The only time a CAI add 10 RWHP on a 2v is when it's supprted with Full bolt ons, and/or a nasty h/c combo

I concur, a tune on a stock 96 GT does little. I just ran mine with CAI and a canned 93 octane tune (everything else stock). My 5sp 96GT/3.27 gears ran a 14.9@92.45 - a half decent time but not much (or any) evidence of gains over stock IMO. Next mod for me is O/R H pipe and install my WB O2 sensor. I chose to get the tuner up front (I use sniper) just for the fun of tuning and keeping the car running at the top of its game after every mod (PI intake then cams are also planned this year).

I would say get the thing dyno tuned, I never thought mine ran real rough and i was getting poor gas mileage until i got it dyno tuned. I was amazed with the low end, but you don't have any fuel upgrades (like i did) or anything so it might just help you get some ponies out of your motor.
