how much can the stock block handle

The block itself can handle ALOT. Its not the block that weak, its the internals of the block. I think ive heard that the block itself can handle upwards of 1000hp

Maybe an unrelated question, but for the heads to start warping the factory temp gauge would probably have to peg red for quite a while, yes? My 96 Cobra runs a little hot in real hot temperatures... just paranoid a previous owner could have overheated the car. The thermometer reads hot... but it never actually touches an overheating stage.

the internals are good for around 400-450 from what ive heard,but if there old your done for.

the block ive heard is good for a bit over a 1000. im wondering the same thing though, do i trust the stocker or get a shortblock.
