k member, headers??? hello again all, Just a quick question. I have a set of bbk shorty headers. Everything i read for installing them says drop k member for the long tubes. Do i really need to do this for the shorties. Plus the only reason i have the shorties is because i already have an off road h pipe w/o cats. So I thought that it would be easier to just get the shorties. With the h pipe and shorties how much of a dif would it be with the longtubes? Thanks guys oh and i made this post 2 times and I dont how to erase one so sorry. lol

Just makes it easier to get up in there. I would personally just take the heads off and do a head swap and put the shorties on and then the heads if i were to do shorties.

good to know, I actually just bought some pi heads that are getting ported and polished as we speak. Good call. The only prob is i was going to get a shop to do the swap. I am deployed now so i wanted it to be done when i get back home. Plus i dont really feel that confident to take everything apart and do the swap my self. Would like to learn and do it with some one who has done it before. But oh well.

If you're looking to do this yourself I'd highly recommend just going with some long tube headers since shorties aren't really that much of an improvement unless you were given them free. If a shop is going through the efforts of porting and polishing PI heads you are probably looking for horsepower. Long tube will give you more of these magical "horsepower" I've heard of.
![]() Then again people post what they are doing all the time and there's always the crew of people hopping on the "that isn't that useful" bandwagon. So go with them, you chose them for a reason. Last edited by Ryan Paymaster : May 13th, 2008 at 12:52 AM. |
