ticking revisited
If you guys have read some of the threads on our adventures in ticking 4vs, then I have found what my problem was, maybe yours. If you happen to own a 4v and can here ticking coming from the engine bay, some where around the heads at certain rpms, but not through the full range of throttle, then it could be camshaft play. I found out it was the passenger side intake cam shaft. For some reason the cams were never properly shimmed from the factory. Check it out, it may just save your life. Well maybe not your life but definately the life of your heads valves and pistons.
Later Pony lovers.

I hear ticking in my 96 Cobra and I hear some sort of noise around 2000RPM exactly. However, I don't have the time or knowledge to dig apart the heads and do this though.
![]() Thanks for finding this out, it'll prove useful to someone going bananas. |
