Ticking

I need some advice bad. I bought a 125hp power pack from SHM a couple years ago and installed it on my car. The engine started right up but had a loud tick from the right bank. A shop replaced all the lifters and the tick got quieter but didn't go away. It's currently at another shop and they told me to contact SHM to see if those guys had any suggestions, I figured I would try here, too. The only mods besides the power pack are the ARP head studs. If I was off by one tooth on the timing (which I don't think I am) would that cause a tick without losing compression? Or could I not be getting good oil pressure to a lifter due to a blocked oil passage? The tick sounds like it's coming from just below where the head and block make contact. This is really annoying me. I had the car apart for almost two years to the day and this is the last thing I need to get fixed before I start on the suspension. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That's the first thing I thought of, too. Hell, that's what I was hoping for. Unfortunately, that's not it.

im not sure what it sounds like or where it is. But alot of people if they replace the exhaust that gasket get misplaced and makes a tick out of the right bank only.

Can you hear it from the motor or the exhaust or what? get a broom handle and try to pinpoint it

It sounds it's coming from the valley right where the head and block mate up. My mechanic/tuner has it apart right now. I did put a mechanics stethescope up to it to verify the location. What do you mean, gasket gets misplaced and my only the right bank? Thanks for the reply.

well most exhaust dont come with it, every SLP i have used DO. The right side if the only side they use a gasket. That why i kinda thought it might be it.
