Screamin Demon Ignition System Installation
Alright I haven't seen one of these around the boards so here we go. its a VERY easy swap.
You need to order the Screamin Demon Coil Packs, Livewires, and the Billet Wire Looms are optional. Everything should come up to about $300 or on the lower side of that. Also its a REALLY GOOD IDEA TO GO PICK UP SOME NGK TR55's from Advanced Auto Parts or some SINGLE PRONG PLUGS. I refuse to use anything else but NGK 1.49 a plug FTMFW. Tools: 3/8 Ratchet, 3/8 6" Extension, 10MM shallow socket, 5/8 Plug Socket, 1/4" Ratchet, 3" 1/4" Extension, 7MM 1/4" Socket, Flat Head screwdriver, Dielectric Grease, about an hour of time. Here's what were working with.... ![]() ![]() -To start off, remove the strut tower brace (if present) using the 3/8 ratchet and 10MM socket. There should be 8 10MM bolts holding it in there and then it just pulls right off. -Next remove the intake tube from the throttle body to the MAF and the flex joint (if you have an aftermarket intake tube). Unplug the IAT from the intake tube and remove the tube itself. And the tube going to the upper plenum and the PCV hose on both sides. -Now unplug the coil packs and remove them using the 7MM socket and the 1/4" Ratchet. Keep the ground connectors on the bolt and when you install the SD coil packs put them in the same place. DO NOT REMOVE THE WIRES FROM THE OLD COIL PACKS OR THE PLUGS. Here's what you should have in front of you.... ![]() -Ok Now plugs the new CP's up and transfer the wires over. from the old CP's. Throw the old CP's in the garbage, they suck anyway. -Start tracing the wires to the plugs and remove them ONE AT A TIME!!!!!!!! Pull the boot off the plug and use the 5/8's plug socket and 3/8 ratchet and 6" extension to remove the plug. Hopefully you bought some NGK TR55's and you need to go now and gap all of them to .065, It's a big gap but this system is HOTTT. Alright put the plug back into the hole it came from and find the matching wire numbered 1. Hopefully thats where you started from. First cylinder on the passenger side. Repeat this process seven more times and your done!!!! -Put your intake tube and back in there and all the PCV hoses and such. Finally put the strut tower brace on using the 10 MM bolts you took out. Pay close attention to the back two bolts as they are smaller than the other ones that go to the strut tower. Yup, thats me hard at work on my old baby. ![]() I miss these days on the old 97...... ![]() Now your all ready to start her up and take her for a run. Heres what you should have... ![]() ![]() ![]() Ok guys, Thanks for checking out my write-up and I really hope yall look into this mod. The car this was done on was my old 97 GT with a Full PI Swap, Sniper Tune, 3:73 gears, MGW Shifter, Accufab TB and Upper Plenum, King Cobra Clutch, Cobra Transmission, BBK CAI, BBK Catted X-Pipe, Magnapacks, and some other stuff I can remember. The car felt like something was holding it back after the swap and it couldn't even chirp the tires in second, well after this my buddy took it out and spun in 1st, spun 2nd, and had a pretty long chirp, or squeal in 3rd. The spark up top is amazing being that the 4.6's stock ignition system has a drop off up top, this system makes the car pull harder than ever. Look into it guys, its well worth the money. Let me know if yall got any questions.

Nice write up, maybe the coil packs will make enough power to offset that BBK hot air induction.... Sorry, I could not resist. I tested those against the stock, accel and msd. I was actually suprised how well they worked, I can say if it was them alone as I was running a MSD dis4 but they actuall made 5 rwhp over the rest.
My friend has been running them for over a year now on his big turbo Bigbore with no issues. The accel lasted 2 weeks and the msd never went bad just seemed to get weaker with time.

It sounds like you bought wires for a 2V. You need 4V wires for your Cobra.
