My theory as an SN-95 owner is even if a speed cal did work on our cars I'd rather save that big chunk of change and step up to a tuner which can do the same thing. In your case it must be nice to be spot on with your tires/gears though.

You are right the correct VSS gear will work just fine for 96-98. I am not sure if the computer is different or what. It was funny, on Friday after reading this I called Dallas Mustangs to ask them if it would definitely work before I hooked it up and they were kind of ticked I would ask that. The guy answered "I've been putting these things on them for 10 years, yes it will work." I would have probably gone with the gear too but I got mine used from 68 dlxcoupe for half off and hooked it up with a little help and car knowledge from my father-in-law. But your right for the money the gear is a great option.
Also, before I knew better back in March, I bought a Xcal3 to fix it. Big mistake. It absolutely will not fix the calibration on 98 and older Mustangs as you said. It does serve great purposes besides that with the custom tune I got from Trick Tuners though.
