Just make sure you get the correct number of teeth or you'll have to keep replacing it more often .

Pretty sure New Edge Mustangs can be fixed like that. SN-95 were mechanical still. Bonus for us, the gears to fix it are pretty cheap compared to a speedcal. Mine is dead-on.

Speedometer Recalibration Gears - '79-'98 Ford Mustang

This is every gear you could think of needing. Take a look around and figure out what you need. If anyone has a question I can try to help but I believe there is a thread (was stickied) floating around describing which gear would be for which application. Pretty sure this is only on 96-98 applications.

Ryan your right, I tried to use the speedcal on my 97 and it didnt read jack shit. The pink gear is best for 373's. Put me 1 mph off thats the only bad thing about it.

Maybe it has to do with installation or bad luck, I can't see these gears being something that you replace every two months. They're cheap and it's how these cars generally are recalibrated. However, $20 every 2 months would be $120 a year in speedometer gears.

You'll have better luck on the next one.

I just hooked up the Speedcal today and it works on my 98. It wasn't at first but that was because I was using the wrong code. I called Dallas Mustangs and they gave the correct code for my gear change and even wheel size. It definitely works.

Does the 98 have a different computer or anything like that? I have no personal experience with a speed cal at all other than it has been said NOT to work on our years. However, if the GT is anything like the Cobra there were some minor differences from the previous years.

My theory as an SN-95 owner is even if a speed cal did work on our cars I'd rather save that big chunk of change and step up to a tuner which can do the same thing. In your case it must be nice to be spot on with your tires/gears though.
