Yes when we did mine the intake was to big and ran into the hose connecting to the waterpump. We cut the bracket off and ran a piece of heater hose along the side of it and it fit in there just fine. Also, the intake gaskets i ordered were for a 96 and I didnt realize until after i looked at them that they werent going to fit on the intake. Made me feel stupid

Im happy with the outcome so far. I just got it running on thursday. I didnt notice a difference in sound at idle but you can definetely hear a difference at WOT. It pulls much harder all the way to 6k rpms. I raced a few friends to see how much it helps and i put a bunch of cars on a stock 97 gt and i raced an ls1 camaro just to see what happened. We were about even through 2nd then he pulled away but i am fairly happy with the results. I just need some gears and drag radials now.

I did it just this last week. Got it done on Thursday night. It went well with the exception of a few problems. One being O'Reileys ordering the wrong gaskets for me. Ill be on more again now that its done and have a video sometime tomorrow.

you need to get the PI coolant tube. thats the tube that runs in the valey under the intake manifold. the new one bends around to allow it to fit. the part number is XR3Z-18B402-AA and you can get it at ford dealerships. Also ask for a coolant nipple, and alternator bracket. when he get the manifold on he has to tap a hole for the other manifold sensor.

you dont need the altinator bracket, but that tube and nipple is something i would never not use on a PI intake. The heater hose idea just seems too jerry rigged for me.

Ya, u dont need the alternator bracket and you can just take the crossover off your old manifold for the other coolent sensor on the manifold.

Yeah I tried the heater hose idea, and it led to a big leak. The metal tube is metal for a reason. If you use hose it will burst under pressure.

If your guy's having all sorts of problems you should find a different mechanic... My 17 year old self did it largely alone in a garage with house-building tools. I didn't have any problems.

I had no issues. Well, besides the valve springs were a beeeeyach to get out with the motor in the car, but that was my own doing. As far as just the intake swap, did the research, bought the parts, and had 0 issues.
