My first 96 only had a cold air, gears, exhaust and rear suspension and went 14.0x's @101, I am also way closer to sea level then you mountain boys.... lol. P.I swap and a set of cams with a accufab upper it went 12.60's @ 110 on motor. .020 over bore and higher compression got me in the 11's, that was my first modular build almost six years ago.

Im not trying to be a dick, but I really wish you guys would stop telling people that these are low to mid 15sec cars, when in reality they are mid to high 14 sec cars. My best et so far is under my av and all I had was mid pipe back exhaust and a short throw.

Well for us colorado guys, they are mid 15 second cars. Elevation is raping our power up here.

Going to make maybe a controversial post here, but I'm going to deem it okay to save you time, labor, and cash.

Go 4 valve, don't waste your time with 2v. For what it will cost you to make that 2v run what a 4v does stock you could have already had a Cobra. Cobras around sea level put down 14.0 second passes and faster. Modify them and you can touch low 13s and I wouldn't doubt extremely high 12s with proper conditions.

The SN95 GT is not even remotely a saver when looking at a 1996-1998 Mustang. It usually means you're going to find high mileage, beat-up, riced-out, daily drivers. The nice ones are owned by people who already did worthwhile mods and probably aren't selling (PI swap and more) seeing as what they put in ISN'T going to give them much more cash. I looked around at 1994-1998 GT for a long time and landed on a 96 Cobra because of the painful process of finding a nice GT. The same can be true for Cobras, but a damn nice one can be found privately for around $7,000. $10,000 and it'll be mint. Every "nice" GT I found was just nickles and dimes away from Cobras.

wow 14.6 @94mph. thats some damn good driving. when mine was all stock except CAI, o/r X pipe and short trow, i ran 15.0 @ 92 w/2.1 60ft, i believe im at about 800 to 1000lbs feet elevation though. i did get good amount of tire spin but i slamed shifted the hell out of it. not sayin 14.6 isnt possible im sure it is. It just takes a better driver than me i guess.
