Some questions

OK, well I may be finally getting my GT. The stang Im looking at has some issues, but I dont know how bad they really are, and dunno the price to correct.

Its a Black 1997 Mustang GT, 76k miles, 5spd (of course)

Some things I know are done:
01 bullitt suspension and 01 bullitt brakes, new clutch, and its had a rear seat delete.

From what the guy has said, here is the bad:
"The crankshaft is missing about a third of the threads it needs to hold the Crank Pulley on. I have a new Crank Pulley Bolt and I am going to try putting that in there with some thread lock and see if that holds a little better. The only problem I see with the car that already isn't stated in the post is the pulley rattles. You can hear it when it idles and revs up, it rattles."

To be honest, I have no clue how severe that would be. I can get help with the labor no problem, just want to make sure Im not going to commit to a total money pit, ya know.

Guy is asking ~$2800

Well it seems to be pretty low mileage, so id doubt that the entire engine is going to blow up. I'd have someone look at it and get an estimate before i bought it tho..

worse comes to worst, and you buy it, and the engine grenades, a new short block is less than a grand.

plus if you did buy a new short block you would still be ahead of the game for the amount the guy is selling it.... i'd go ahead and get it

That is really cheap. But that sounds like a much bigger deal than he makes it sound like. Rattling Pullies? That would create a severe balance issue. Take it to a good shop and have them look at it, tell them what the dude said. It sounds to me like the crank could have bad bearings and a new engine is in the cards for that car. Depending on where your money is at, that could be a good thing. But I doubt it. Take it to a shop before you do anything. I personally walk away, the guy sounds like a total idiot.

pull the pully off and rethread the crank. It's not that hard. you can get a new arp bolt and washer from summit for 14 bucks. Even if you need to tear it down eventualy and rebuild it you can go full internals for 1200 and get the block fully worked for around 800 that brings your total to 4800, which is an awesome deal for a car with a fully forged set up and low miles.
