Confused... Need Help Plz! (PI Manifold Stuff)

Ok, first off I know you guys are probably sooo sick of hearing people ask for help with Npi to pi intake manifold swaps, but I just have to ask. First off, my stock intake manifold is cracked right at the thermostat housing, and I basically need to get a new one. My cousin said that its pointless to get a pi intake manifold for my 96 GT because it creates a "snowball" or "domino" effect where that once you start, you have to start replacing EVERYTHING because the air to fuel mixture is messed up now. He also said that it might even make my car run worse... so my first question is... would it be stupid to buy the PI manifold for my 96 GT? It just seems that if I'm going to be spending the money I might as well get performance out of it... My other question is, is there a walkthrough somewhere that goes step-by-step how to replace an intake manifold on a 96 GT? I have a chiltons and haynes manual, but those just seem to be good enough to get me in over my head and waay confused.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for repeating this over-asked question.
Zac

a pi intake swap isnt that bad. most manuals will have a step by step instructions. the intake realy needs the matchine heads to be of any use. in no way will the intake ports match the ports on the heads. they will line up but the openings are not the same.

I would disagree with your cousin. casper did an awesome writeup on how to swap them let me see if i can find it. the only thing you gota do drill an tap another hole in the coolant crossover on the front of the intake. the PI has one hole and your NPI intake has two its actualy realy simple hmmm let me see if i can find that post

Zac,first word of advice is dont listen to your cousin. I have found that if people cant give you a detailed or exact reason not to do something ,they are basically shooting from the hip . You dont have to replace EVERYTHING . A few things need to be swapped, but their are kits for this. And its a big improvement power wise over what you have,

There is not a significant enough change in this upgrade to mess up your air/fuel mix.

If you really wanna make it worth your while ,get the heads and cams to. You can usually pick them up for around $300 .

p.s.- Whatever intake you get,be sure to get the aluminum crossover.
