I have a 97 GT with all around disc brakes my question is... How hard is it to change out the rotors and breaks in the rear. I keep hearing different things just want to get some real info on this......

Any info would be appreciated!!!!

It's pretty damn easy, i did rotors and pads on my car in about an hour and a half.. and that includes cleaning the calipers. Its really not bad at all dude.

oh, and don't get Autozone's duralast rotors, they got surface rust on them in less than 3 months.

Is it just as easy as take off and putting on or are there bearings you need to switch out or anything like that?.....

No dude, thats all further back. Everything just unbolts.. you will need to borrow a tool that clamps the caliper tho.

you can use a simple c clamp. they do make a tool that makes it a tad easier though. rear breaks are easy.

and "lifetime warranty" pads are a joke. The "lifetime" they refer to is just the lifetime of the pad, and they're usually made of some hard-ass material that just eats your rotors. If you're not going to something like a Hawk, EBS, or Porterfield (which you really don't need in the rear), just get the basic pads.

That's great advice, plenty of people think it means for the lifetime of the car.. and the pads are usually of low quality. Rear brakes don't make that much of a difference in terms of braking performance, compared to the front.

its just 4 bolts and when u se the c clamp be sure to use the old pad to push it in so u dont push in one side and not the other and thats about it but clean the new rotors with brake clean before u put the on to take some of the film off.

Use a C clamp, the little Tool that makes it easier is trash and broke when I used it. Open your brake fluid reservoir and clamp down on the piston of the caliper, if it doesn't push right in, give it a second and it will go down, just keep pressure on it untill it sinks low enough. And on the rear brakes, you need to watch for the E brake cable. Its a pain to get around, the ford designers were retarded on this one, but you can get by it easy, use a long handle 15mm and you will be done in no time. Its really easy, no bleeding necessary or anything. As for resurface rust, that happens to all brake rotors if you let them get wet and sit for a while. Comes off as soon as you use em once.
