Discussing Straight wire fan simple question. in the 96-98 Forum. I'm tired of trouble shooting this fan crap for now so im just going ...

Straight wire fan simple question.


I'm tired of trouble shooting this fan crap for now so im just going to straight wire it to the battery ( its a brand new fan so im sure the motor can handle it, being no more then i drive). Plus in a week or so i'll run a toggle switch threw the firewall and mount it all pretty n all that good stuff.

Now my question is, do i need any kind of special wire to hotwire the fan to the battery?

Also should i just hotwire the low speed on the fan to the battery positive or the max speed of the fan?

And just to make sure I got this right ( pretty sure its simple). Just run the high or low speed connector on the fan to the positive on the battery and the ground (black wire prong) to the negative clamp on the battery and im good to go?

Should I pick up any kinda special clamps or anything at advance?

Also btw I just replaced my waterpump today and man i tell you that thing musta been the factory one (I have a 96 GT). I had to beat that thing like i wuz workin the chain gang, and then found out the lil inner peace that almost works as the water wind mill inside of the waterpump shaft on the end of the waterpump wuz completely broke off. However now the new water pump looks great and shes flowing like a 1st day period.

lol I'm sure it was the stock water pump, I had the propeller all fallen off on a 95 kia sportage lol... all rusted off... you can hook it up the battery with just the little ring connectors but it won't stop unless you disconnect it when you turn off the car unless it has a thermostat box on it

well that might b great if i had a sauter n all that kinda good stuff.

However i can just buy a nice switch from advance auto that hooks up pretty easily i just wanna wait till i got the time to cut a nice hold and get it fitted into the dash somewhere.

I just wanted to double check on the ground connector the negative post, and the low speed the positive.

Fan keeps going even after u turn the key off? figured it would cut off like the radio. Well that will b fine my negative connector slides on n off so easy ( not easy enuff to ever just pop up, just easy to get it off urself). So if i have to pop the hood and pull that off for a week or so I can handle that.

Thanks for the help. O yeh any tips on a place to get some wire for a good price?
