Cobra's are DOHC (dual over head cam). GT's are SOHC (single over head cam).

ya dont get confused tho. in a pushrod motor like the 5.0 theres one single cam. in a single overhead cam you have two individual cams on a dual overhead cam you have four individual cams but the when they say single or dual they are refering to one bank or half the engine the GTs are single over head the cobras a dual overhead

I also have a ? regarding this issue. Everyone is telling me that the GTs are a SOHC engine!! My original window sticker from the '96 I recently purchased lists 4.6L 2V DOHC V8 under "functional" heading of standard equipment "included at no extra charge". From the appearance of the window sticker the car was ordered by the original owner because under mileage bull#$%@ it says EPA data not available. Unit not to be offered for sale. Also there is no mfg list price on the sticker is only states...... vehicle not for sale.

I'm at a loss here???? A little help someone, please. Thanks, Jerry.

PS tried to attach sticker jpg. comes up as empty file

2V in modular cars means SINGLE OVERHEAD CAM...

4V in modulars means you have DUAL OVERHEAD CAMS...

Your sticker is wrong...Unless your car is a Cobra then you do not have a 4V DOHC stock in your car...

SOHC 4.6

DOHC 4.6

(It would not say "Cammer" on the plug cover plates though)

yeah but after 450hp you have to forge your internals and a few more other goodies.

Not stroked, it is a big bore you can buy that block from Ford Racing Parts performance it is cast iron. but for the cost of it you can buy a aluminum block and have it sleeved for less.

eagle and manley h beams are nearly the same and will be good beyond 600rwhp, if your serious about it I'd do the pistons as well. I myself run oliver billet I beams that are proven to handle 1200rwhp and 10k rpm and run diamond fully coated custom pistons, No I am not at that power level but have a ton of boost still ready to throw at it.

I don't know if it would make a difference and I'm not saying it's wrong but Chris posted a pic of a 5.0 and captioned it as a 4.6
