Question

long tubes ???

Hey guys I have 2 questions.
1. I am putting 2004 pi heads on my 98 mustang. When I get long tube headers do i get the 96-98 or 99-04?
2. What is the real dif between a h pipe and a x pipe? (besides the obvious) I am curious about the performance.
Please let me know if you guys know either of these. Thanks in advance guys.

you would get the 99-04 headers and have to get your exhaust to match

h pipe is deeper. x pipe is raspier. x pipe supposedly gives u like 2 extra hp than the h and the h gives u a little more low end torque. so performance wise theyre pretty much the same and u should just get whatever u think sounds the best (prochamber imo)

1. 99-04 LT
2. +1 on burlington. xpipe does give a lil more hp but not much. xpipe is more of nascar than deep like the h pipe.

PI headers will fit NPI heads.

96-04 Headers are typically the same part number. I know my hooker headers came off of a 2002 GT fit no problems.

I know the ford racing shorties have different part numbers but most long tubes go either way. The head ports match up either way, I think the difference would be the fitment to the rest of the exhaust and the engine bay.

there is no difference in long tube headers for npi or pi motor. the headers will fit the same way on either head and mount to the same mid pipe.

I had x pipe on my 96gt with a full pi swap. when I got my LT headers I put a shorty H-pipe on it and I dont like it at all. When I get back stateside I am getting a shorty x-pipe instead. I liked the way the x pipe sounds better then the H.
