5.4 2-valve

Anyone running a 5.4 2v motor?? I can get one(not running) for free I'm hoping. Should I even bother?? I dont think the 2v's are all that great unless heavily modded, right??

I have a 02 expedition 5.4 2-Valve 290hp stock 330 tq stock.Im putting it in my car with bolt on's and a tune and everone tells me they think ill be high 12's with the gears i have compared to how light my car is compared to a truck. i mean my stock king ranch truck runs mid -low 14s.imagine it in a sn95 with some weight taken out of it.

Just asking if it's a possibility that you might get new heads for the engine, or have a valve job done. That engine's not bad and has potential and I was wondering what your plans were as far as modifying it.

I don't know that it would be worth it as I believe the hp diference is not that great. I saw a supercharged 5.4 2 valve from a HD edition f150 for sale and it was only rated at like 330 hp.

But shit, if it's free i'd do it!!!

Yeah, I just tried to find it again but could'nt. I'm pretty sure thats what it was.

I do know the lightning is rated at 390 hp supercharged but I believe that is a 5.7L engine.
I just found a listing for a roush supercharger set up for the 5.4L 3-valve that states it adds 112 hp to a stock motor. So if you can google and find the stock numbers for the 5.4 2 valve that would be a close indication of what you would get from it with a supercharger added.
But the 3- valve head does a much better job swirling the air/fuel mixture than the 2-valve does.

I remember because I was kinda shocked that the hp rating was that low WITH a supercharger.

Yea, well see what it might cost to get it in running shape. Does it need a full rebuild? I think it would be sweet to have it in your stang.

running or not, a free block is a free block. if i were you, i would take it. in muscle cars, its all about the bigger cubes... and since that engine is a stock 5.4L, you wouldn't have to worry about punching anything out. Even if everything internal is replaced, a bare bones 5.4 is a great building block. it will be much easier to make big hp out of that motor than your 4.6. if you don't take it, i will!
