I'm having the same problem. The alternator isn't charging the battery. If you take it to a shop they can test the alternator to see if it is how well it is charging your battery. I just picked up a rebuilt alternator for $85 bucks a few hours ago.

if you have a meter you can just check the voltage of the battery. let the car sit a while and if it starts to recharge then it's fine. if using the accesories drains it down then it is a charging problem. your alternator doesn't have to take a big ol' shit on you all at once. it can go bad slowly. i drove my old f150 around for 3 weeks with a bad alternator. it would randomly undercharge, overcharge and run fine.
one minute your driving with the lights off in the dark silence, then it starts overcharging and your driving around blinding everybody with your brights, your 16 year old speakers cranked to the max (sounding like shit) and your ac wide open. talk about a piece o' shit!!

Okay, I didn't want to start a new thread on this so hopefully you guys see this one. I replaced my alternator with a 200amp one built by an alternator shop weeks ago. My voltage is a little low whenever I'm at low rpms. When I use my accesories the voltage drops even more and sometimes my car studders and dies if I'm sitting at idle with accesories on. I thought the new 200amp alternator would have fixed this problem. So...I bought a new battery today; a Duralast Gold. The difference is hardly noticeable.
So basically I had a built 200amp alternator put in with a new Duralast Gold battery and my car is still running like crap and dying on me. The volts go up onlywhen my rpms are high. As soon as I come to a stop they drop. What am I missing??? Is there some sort of voltage regulator on our cars like in the old days?

Yea I have steed underdrive pulleys. I didn't have the problem until recently though. I tried checking the ground and everything looks fine. Are there multiple ground cables?
