Before I did a complete PI swap aside from a good tune up, (plugs, wires fuel filter, decarbonize) the PI Intake swap was the best mod I did on the npi engine, (forced to after splitting the water crossover). Car picked up .15 in the 1/8 on street tires. If you shop around you can probably get the intake used cheap enough, get Ford gaskets they're cheaper than the aftermarkets from Fel-Pro or someone else.

Subframe connectors also always a good investment on any 79-04.
