5.4 4valve

can a 5.4 4valve fit in a 97 mustang gt? wut vehicles come with the 5.4 4valve? how much would a 5.4 4valve be (used)? would everything from a 4.6l swap over, as in cai, supercharger, intake manifold, headers, catback, etc?

The word is "what", and you'll probably have better luck asking this in the 4v section.

No...

The easy answer is no... There is no easy way to fit the 5.4L 4V in a mustang, any of them really. It took SVT over a year to get one into production (the 2000 Cobra R has a 5.4L in it). It is a truck motor, it was designed for a truck, not a sports car, but if you really want to know what all would be involved, here goes.

1 - You'll want a tubular k-member
2 - new springs and struts to account for the weight up front
3 - motor mounts
4 - headers / manifolds will have to be fabricated
5 - intake manifold will have to be fabricated
6 - modify the strut towers to accomodate the 5.4
7 - A/C delete, as I don't believe that it can be used due to the larger motor
8 - New bell housing, and possibly new tranny (if it's a manual, a T-56 would be best, but I believe that a 3650 will handle it.
9 - ECU
10 - T/B and plenum for 5.4 and custom intake
11 - Radiator would be a good idea
12 - Strut tower brace can no longer be used due to the intake
13 - New / custom CAI
14 - MAF for 5.4L (I think the Lightning could work, maybe wrong though)
15 - Hood, hi-cowl (3"+ to clear the intake)

I am SURE I am missing things, but this should give you an idea of what would be entailed in doing a 5.4L swap. You would be better off just going to a 347 stroker motor and K-member, that would be a better choice IMO

Modifies the 5.0 pushrod to 347ci or 5.6 liters.. I believe the aluminum 4.6 can be stroked plus bored to get around 5.3 liters.

I also think you need to move the break booster

No, I just believe that you have to convert to either manual or hydraulic brakes.

but about the 347 stroker:
It is a stroked 302 / 5.0L
They make a significant amount of power and with the plethora of 5.0L motors out there, they are fairly cheap to make / install. The only real modification that you would need that I can think of is motor mounts, ecu, and intake parts + your choice of the many exhausts available for the sn95 from 94-95.

It's actually very easy to do either a 4v or a 2v swap. I have a 2v 5.4 in my 03, it's cake and makes great power on the street.

2v is much easier than 4v on a car that started as a 2v for obvious reasons. If you want the correct answers from someone that's actually done it, come on over to mustangboards.com and check the 5.4 swap sticky in the 4.6 tech section. We have better than 10 guys with running 5.4 equipped cars.

I'm having longtubes made now.. if we get more people to sign up for them then they'll be made for retail sale.

BTW... a basic swap requires only adapter plates for the intake and a quick trip to the muffler shop with your h-pipe. The rest is a DIRECT bolt in.
