speed sensor?

If my vehicle speed control sensor is unpluged will that make my automatic shift at the wrong time and cut the power to wheels at a certin speed. i dont have my speedo hooked up yet but it cuts out power about midway though 3rd gear. it also shifts into 1st, 2nd, 3rd or overdrive really quick when i start off slow in drive and when i get on it it doesnt seem to downshift very quick it takes a second. What could be my problem? I am not running a 96 computer on the 96 motor, Damn anti theft! The only computers I have been able to get the car running and moving is a 93 crounvictoria and a 95 lincoln town car computer. the whole wiring harness is powered by switches not by key just by using the mustang wiring diagram book. Can you anyone help?

you need the proper computer & speed sensor hooked up for it to run/drive right. lucky that it wasn't a newer set up or you'd be putting a trans in about now

Well what is so different about the 96 mustang trans and the lincoln town car trans. Or a better question would be does the 96 stang have a computer that doesnt have anti-theft? the 96 computer doesnt have any spark at the coils. Or what if i took all the sensors of the the lincoln trans. I would like to fix my shifting problems befor I put my PI heads on the car.

ohh yea one more thing my trans oil pan has been kinda crushed not bad just sank in from when the car that it was in got wrecked. I know i should probably fix that before anything but why would that keep my car from getting over 70.

is this a v6 swap? if so you are using a v8 mustang computer right. oh & yes defenately fix the pan & the most likely reason you cant get it to drive right is you still have things unplugged/etc.

no it isnt a v6 swap. im not using a v6 computer. im using the 95 lincoln computer but is running off the mustang engine and trans harness. so far i havent got the lincoln harness to plug in yet and run still a few more bugs to work out. dont have the wiring diagram for the lincoln i only have fords 1996 mustang vacuum and electrical troubleshoting manual basicly wiring ur mustang for dummys. so some wires are the same but not all on the lincoln. i still dont have any of the in car wiring harness for the car no speedo, no tach, nothing. just a shifter and a o/d button hooked up. this is all going into my lil racecar im building so everything is custom and i dont really want to get standalone yet. i want to make sure that the car will hold the power before spenging too much money.
