if you take the wheel off make sure you take the pos cable off of the batt for a few mins to let the SRS system discharge then unplug the yellow covered wire with the yellow plug at the bottom of the column that is your air bag wireing. then be very carfull when removing it always set it out in the open and face up away from anyone so if it does happen to go off no one gets hurt. if you set it face down if it goes off it will shoot 100+ feet up in the air and it WILL hurt when it comes back down.

I appreciate the heads up (no pun intended)... but from most people responses it would be foolish for me to try... as much as I would love to have a nicer looking wheel (2005 type) or even settle for the same wheel but in black, I really think with my lack of skills I would somehow screw it up and go from having a fully functional boring wheel to an awesome one that is in the garage just looking pretty... and no wheel to drive with...

and since every shop i have contacted will not switch out a wheel I think I need to just figure out something less crucial to screw up...

thanks

B

The console I got even came out of a convertible, but that does not matter as the non-convertible has a pop in coin holder that goes into the switch opening. The extra power plug reqiured that you use the bin inside the console that is correct for that type. The one I got did not come with it so a trip to the junk yard yielded me the correct one (I just hunted around and found the correct one out of a newer mustang).

Maybe you can try one of those leather steeringwheel covers..I bought one a few years ago..still looks great.
If you change your mind later on, you can always remove it.

Well I did end up getting a black steering wheel cover... it looks good enough... now i think once i can find some black door inserts and a black center console it will really look good... now somehow i still need to figure out what to get for headlights...

Get some crystal clear lights, or get them smoked, that looks really cool.
