Exactly how much mods would you need to beat one. I am about to get a loan for 5k to drop all onto the motor.

Could it put me in that range?

And one more after tha, I have an asshole neighbor that has a stock skyline what would i need to get on that level.

for 5 grand you could rape that Z, i dont know shit about sky lines, but for 5 grand you could PI swap the top end and put a blower on there an be near 400 hp id say

Its a Skyline,not a Z . And they are not that fast .The are AWD ,which lets them get a better dig.I dont give imports the time of day,cuz no matter how bad they get beat ,they still lie to all their friends on how they "walked a Rustang" .

400HP on a stock bottom end is borrowed time usually . It can be done,and some people have no problem with daily driving. But if you get into that gas a lot,it could be trouble.

Also,if you put PI heads on a 97 shortblock,your compression is gonna be somewhere around 10:1 ,and you cant add massive boost with that kind of C/R. But you can get into the 400 range.

Buy a forged short block that someone is selling ,that you can pick it up at a good price,and have some leftover for a blower.

I would skip the bolt-ons,cuz if he were looking at a blower, thats gonna eliminate most bolt-ons anyways.Depending on the blower.

ya when i say Z i mean Z-28, and they are fast i had a 95 when i was 16...bad news lol. with 5 grand you have alot of options. After having one and racing it so much, if you had an honest 300 rwhp it would be possible to beat him. personaly i would do the forged internals and do everything right so it wont be a time bomb like fryrice said. depending on how much work you do yourself you could beat him for 2k with a PI swap and a 150 shot of juice... 150 aint smart but you could beat him. i once met a kid runing 12s in a denali pickup, i said whats done to that thing..."uhhhhh not much just juiced the shit out of it and im crossing my fingers" lol spend the money and do it right is my vote.

Yeh thanks alot, I already have a few mods done. 4:10 gears , full exaust , intake , Chip, TB @ PLenium, MSD Ignition, Short throw.

I know that im going to go with PI heads and get them ported. I'm just stumped after doing that (other then a blower).

you could easily beat a 99 Z28 with 5K into a 4.6 2v but to be honest stock for stock..an LS1(motor in 98-02 Z28's and Trans-am's) would rape a stock 4.6 no matter if it was a 2v or a 4v Cobra, unless your talking about an 03-04

I routinely beat up on 99-02 F bodies both stock and modded. We give up alot of cubes and they respond very well to mods. That being said, I have beaten more than have beaten me.

Another easy mark - 04-05 GTOs. PIGs - lol. I have destroyed stock ones and beaten modded ones. I know there are some quick ones around (mid 12 seconds) but not without extensive mods and a serious diet.

well i mean my friend had a 98 Z28 with slp lid, and loud mouth II cat back. and he sat side by side with an 01 S/C GT from like 30 mph till around 120

not to be a dick or demean your car if that skyline is a gtr your looking at a 300hp 13 sec stock car.and if he upped boost at all high 12s. i used to build those cars. if its not a gtr its rwd with 210 hp and you will walk on him. carefull with that skyline if it is a gtr. if you really wanna be a dick 100 to 1 says that skyline is illigal because you cant have them here. so just be like hmm your car will be really nice smashed in a cube when i call the epa. he'll shut up quick. lol yeah my dad has a fbody t/a and those cars are fast as hell he raced my stock 96 gt and we walked on me like nothing. he has intake exaust lid and ud pulley

it doesnt take much to make an LS1 fast as hell. stock and 4:10s and they are a damn good car!
