Which brakes are best?

I am trying to decide what brake company to go with on my car. Looking at SSBC, Stop tek, Wilwood, baer, and a few others. Anyone have suggestions? A buddy of mine seemed to think $2700.00 for the SSBC kit was skimping it on brakes and that I should spend more??? Also what about drilled and slotted rotars Vs just power slotted? Any suggestions on those? I heard sometimes the drilled crack?

Baer or Wilwood all the way. Brembo's are nice too. I'm not a fan of SSBC

First.. do you track (road course) your car??? if not, then all your paying for is the Bling factor, and you should just do a full Cobra swap for about 700 bucks or so....

If your tracking your car, you can still get away with the cobra setup, but I went with the Y2k Cobra R's.

As for slotted or drilled, most of the members of our club are just using the flat blanks. I have not found any benefit to slotted. And... they are cheap. OEM Cobra rotors are about 60-80 bucks + shipping.

I have slotted only because thats what the kit came with. I have 2 sets of blanks ready to use as soon as these warp.

I don't plan to track it. I just want to make sure with the amount of power the car is going to have that I can stop the damn thing when I need to.

+1 The local road racers have had issues running the drilled and slotted rotors. After one on track session they would crack while cooling in the pits. The y2k Cobra R setup works very well but a 03/04 Cobra setup with good pads will work great for you.

^^^ What he said... You can get full Cobra setup, front and rear for about 700 bucks... Its a great package. YOu would be crazy to spend more on anything else... it would be a waste of money.
