is the lincoln motor a 2V? If so its a derect drop replacement. YOu might have to swap oil pans, i know i did.

But i have a 95 crown vic motor in my car now. wiring and harness works the same, you will have to use a NPI or PI mustang intake though

Lincolns started using the teksid 4valves in 93.

They have much less aggressive cams, a worse intake, and non forged bottom end if I remember correctly.

Still its a teksid 4valve with B heads..... STILL better than the GT 2valves in my opinion.

yes i have a 94 mark VIII and its just about the same motor but it has a 6 bolt crank vs the cobra 8 bolt. the exhaust cams are not as hot as the cobras are but the intake cams are the same. mark intake is better for low end torque then the cobras are due to the longer thinner runners. i know the marks do not have a forged bottom end but i did not know the cobras did either until the 03-04 blown cobras.

96+ with the modular has had the forged 8 bolt crank.

03 was the first year for forged rods/pistons. The went back to iron blocks though so you're better off forging a 96-98 Teksid.

I believe they still use IRMCs too. As for the harness I think you will need a cobra computer to control the IMRCs and Knock Sensors since the GT had neither.

I've heard of people using window switches or aftermarket ECUs to manage the IMRCs if you must keep them, many just force them open and leave it.

Hopefully I've covered enough to help out.

no lincoln motor had a forged bottom end, and the only 4v's that had one are the 03+ cobra and the crankshaft of the mach 1's

I really dont think you're correct.

In fact the Mach1s had forged cranks but only in the 5spd. The Autos had the same cast GT crank.

All the cobras from 96 up have had the forged crank from germany.

Perhaps you're confusing the forged internals of the 03/04 with the forged crank? Before 03 they had the forged crank, but hypereutectic pistons.

forged crank has been in all the CObra motors. But not all the mach 1s

+1

I'm not confusing anything

i was pointing out no lincoln had a forged bottom end, and that the 4v's didn't start getting them until 03.

the post that i quoted implied that u could get a 4v with a forged bottom end like it was a christmas tree in december

So it sounds like we've all been on the same page. I never meant forged in the sense of rods and pistons, just cranks. Just all in how we read each others words. I said 96+ for cobras since before then they were pushrods and I thought we were talking 4v teksid blocks here.

I replied to the first post since it sounded like you meant all Machs were forged and I thought you meant the lincoln motor WAS forged. I just read it
as if you were replying to me saying "No, the lincoln motor was forged." with the no redacting what I said. Of course you didnt mean that and I just read it that way.

alot of guys on the lincoln forums that run stall converters in there cars just take out the IMRC butterflys and epoxy the holes where the shafts go and call it done. also if you can find the imrc plates from a 98 only cobra they are plastic so they help to keep the intake cooler for a somewhat cooler intake charge. kinda the same idea as a wood or plastic carb spacer.

Although very nice, you can get away without them as long as you have it tuned properly. After all the 2v GTs dont even have them.

You should be fine. If you're worried get a cobra computer.
