$1,500 to spend

I've got a stock 96 gt with 110,000 miles on it. I put 275 40 17's on it and cut of the mufflers. I've got about $1,500 to spend on it. What should i do? I have been considering putting in a used pi engine, but didn't know if i could do it for the price range i am looking at. also if i switched the engine to a pi engine what kind of horse power would i have?

you would gain about 50 HP if you tossed in the pi engine.

AND you would have all around better HP increases per mod.

it's worth it IMO

Get your heads ported and polished...Get a set of cams...

Or you could put the whole PI engine in there...

But I think getting your heads worked and getting some cams would make you alot happier...

if your motor runs good get the pi head kit swap, 2500 installed. they do great with the smaller pistons you have now. I just sold a 98 w/ pi head kit, 373's, catted x, mac after cat, c&l mass air and plenum, pulleys, chip, springs, 17x9's. 160,000 miles ran perfect. 13.7 1/4 street tires.

just do the p.i swap dont put a whole newe engine in. you will get more power that way. the non p.i with p.i heads will have more compression therefor more power. Some people doing the swap with rebuilt heads have gained 80 hp.

96 GT stock 215 HP then a 99 GT stock has 260 HP stock all because the PI upgrade ford made. I only got 70k miles on my 96 GT and i cant wait to get enuff money for a PI swap. Even found a nice mustang shop dedicated to all kinds of work on stangs in denver to do it, cuz if u dont know what your getting your hands into i wouldnt try doing it yourself, might screw something up but thats up to personal judgement.

Heres what i would do.

Buy a used npi shortblock, ported pi heads, aftermarket cams, pi intake and whatevers left do nitrous

or buy a blower like mine and get it all tuned for 1500
