96 Gt Hard starting problems

I have a 96 Gt that is hard to start sometimes. The fuel pump runs but it won't start or starts and runs for a couple of seconds and dies. The gas tank is never lower than 1/2. It also has a whistling sound from the passenger side of the dash under hard acceleration. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is happening with this thing? We are the second owners bought it from a used car dealer.

mine got the same problem... mechanic told me that it might be the throttle body or something. put your foot on the gas while you start it, put the pedal down about 3/4 of the way and that baby should fire up.

First step would be to check IAC if it starts up then dies. Where you at in PA?

have you changed the fuel filter?
