i need to replace my manifold cause it has a crack in it... my dad and i were gonna do it in his friends shop who is a mechanic but he said that i should hire someone to do it because if i put it all back together, it just aint gonna run right and then it costs more to troubleshoot the car. but what are the serious risks involved in swapping the manifold? (I dont want to spend 250 if i dont have to)

Phish...i swapped mine in my garage in two evenings. Its like a puzzle. Take the stuff on, and then just put it all back on in reverse order that you took it off. It was easier than i expected. Just don't loose nuts and bolts.

PS - have some paper towels and stuff near by for the injector and fuel rail. You'll also need a removal tool to get the fuel lines off (i had to stop what i was doing to go to auto zone to get one; its like 7 or 8 bucks)

Why are people telling me that if one thing goes wrong, then it will never run right or run at all...... I mean, I am somewhat of a beginner at cars but my dad used to work on cars all the time, he just doesnt know about the computerized part of cars nowadays.

if something goes wrong this is what will most likely happen

u missaligned the gasket and put rtv in the wrong spot. honestly, when we did mine, it appeared that thr rtv wasn't even needed, that the gasket didn't match perfectly, but it overlapped the intake on the head. if u do misalign it, coolant will begin to seap out through the gaps, and u will have to tear it down and attempt it again.

the only way you will mess your car up is if u drive it and lock the motor up cause u didn't notice the smoke/leaking coolant

but when it comes down to it, you have to remember where everything goes. theres nothing involved with the computer aspect of the car or any kind of sensors?
