pi swap and turbo/supercharger ?'s
i am plannin on doing a PI swapped in my 98 gt. i found PI heads and PI intake manifold fully built and ready to install for like $1,000 all together. i was wondering if that is an ok price for that. and plus i wanted to supercharge or turbocharge it right after the PI swap. will i still be able to run the same supercharger/turbo i was gonna run b4 with the stock engine b4 i did the PI swap? or will i have to look into a different turbo since i had done the PI swap. let me know...and what is the best turbo/supercharger that will give me the most horsepower on my engine.

when you say "fully built" what does that mean? like ported n polished? valve jobs? aftermarket cams? what? if it is a set of stock used heads and intake then no $1,000 is way too much. i would be expecting to be paying anywhere around $350 to $500 for a complete set.
since the pi swap bumps the compression i hear that its not the best route to go for supercharge/turbo. you can still do it, just be safe. choosing a turbo/supercharger is up to. personally i like kenne bell and vortech

did u just get complete heads? not "fully built" heads? and yeah with the compression bump you arent gonna be able to run much boost, unless you get special head gaskets and such. I personally am not a fan of turbo's on stangs, and i see you are from cali.. if u plan on smoggin ur car it def wont pass with a turbo, a supercharger it will. but if u plan on just payin someone to pass ur car's smog its no big either way. Which power adder u get should depend on what u want it for, we all wanna go fast, but we also need a car we can drive daily. Some choose root's type over centrifugal superchargers for the low end and midrange power and reliability, some vice versa, for the high end and high hp numbers. if u havent done the pi swap yet, and u eventually wanna boost ur car u might wanna just think about gettin a pi intake swap with some adapters from HPS and some PI cams, then boost it, you'll prolly be safer that way in terms of ur engine blowing up. the spacers are like 100 bucks, and the pi intake u can get for dirt cheap, just gotta look up the intall on the site and ur good to go.

If there's one thing in life you should never take for granted its the ability to drive fast when given the hp to. (PI engine swapped now, so i can go just a lil bit faster haha)oh yeah, and why the hell do imports always try to race me?! |
