Advice on Pi swap (in the middle of one)

Aright I'm in the down and dirty of my PI swap. Got all the accesories off, timing chain cover is off, and im stuck.

I cant get the @#!@#!@ Exhaust Manifolds disconnected from the exhaust!

Any tips? Most of the reason is I dont have a lift only jackstands and I dont have an impact wrench just a breaker bar. Anyone got some advice on how to get them off. It's the only thing keeping the heads on the engine.

Thanks!

Good job now you got your computer dirty.

To be honest your best bet would be a breaker bar and some PB-blaster/
WD-40/Liquid Wrench etc.

I tried a buddies car with a impact and they did not budge but i was able to get them to break loose with a breaker bar After a sprayed it down with some PB-blaster a few times.

This freeze away shit. Saw it on horsepower tv. It's in like a can and you spray it on for a couple of seconds then let it sit for a couple more. Then try it. I don't know what the product is called though. You should possibly look into it...

Just go with the PB blaster and breaker bar, they should break loose eventually.

good one.

I'm a newbie so this might sound dumb, but can't you just unbolt the manifold from the head ?

You also never mentioned if you can heat them, so I'll guess no on that.

In that case your best bet it a breaker bar and some type of penetrating oil which was already stated.
You can try putting a pipe or the boxed end of a big wrench on the end of the bb for more leverage.
You can try turning the bb with your legs instead of your arms for more power.

Worst case scenario is the studs snap, but with the heads coming off you can just bring the manifolds to a shop and have new studs put in.

I'll be going through the same thing sometime over the winter, but I'm putting long tubes in while I have the top half of the motor off.

Good luck with the bolts. Only thing I hate more than manifold bolts are brake line fittings.

You have to use a swivel and an extension or 2
