need opinons please wanting 5.4

ok guys. i have been sitting here thinking about it really hard for like 2 weeks now. i just had a 2003 motor put in my car back in march and i love it. but i have been looking and i was thinking about getting the mod 5.3 but ahhhh way to much money for that. ok heres the thing. i will be going on cruise in feb so my plan now is ordering a forged 5.4 short block. should i go with dss or mmr. mmr has a sell on them right now and i can get it for like 2500 rated for 800 horses. i plan on getting the new trick flow heads when they come out with comp 270 or 278 cams and a hps intake. plans for the next cruise if i do it is twins or see if kenne bell makes a super charger for it. what do u guys think. i appreciate the help guys.

you do realize you will have to get adaptor plates for the intake , probably a different hood and alot of other small stuff to put the 5.4 liter engine in right ?

i called mmr yesterday and actually it is alot better for me to just get the stroked 4.6. im going to get the 950 small block coated pistons and all the goodies and wait for the trick flow heads and get them ported and 278 cams. its going to be around a year before its all put together but im going to do this piece by piece. after that when i do my next cruise im going to do my best to get the big bada** kenne bell setup. my ulltimate goal is for around 650 to 700 at the wheels. im praying this will happen.

We have a customer who just got his 5.4 delivered from MMR. He blew up his 4.6 2V, and we went through the process of getting him what he needed to convert his PI into a 5.4 PI . Should have it installed pretty soon if you'd like some feedback on how that setup works.

I have an MMR 900 (4.6 4V) in mine and love it. Balanced and weighted well, and I know that because it revs ultra smoothly well past 7500. Emerson has a 650, and the same exact thing with his. I'm not trying to push MMR because they're one of our favorite vendors or we make money off of them (honestly, after CC processing, we don't), but I made my purchase before I ever thought about selling parts, same goes for Emerson. Great builders, good prices, and they stand behind their work. I mean, who else warranties race engines?

You dont need to use adapter plates, HPS makes a intke that clears the stock hood, so there are two problems down, the 5.4 isnt that much heavier than a 4.6 when you have alumimun heads on it and torque wins races.
