470hp and 440tq? holy crap... I bet that was a pretty expensive venture...but totally worth it

ehhh... i would maybe save so if you do take it out then you have the money for something... but the t-56 has the same gear ratios only a gear between 4th and 5th... (making 5th into 6th)... so why spend that kind of money if the 3650 doesnt go out... just dont shift like a jackass and youll be fine... let the motor pull you... you dont have to powershift now that you have torque

I have failing bearings and tired of the constant howl running in all gears, but cruising in 5th REALLY sucks. I am also concerned that one day these bearings will begin to completely fail with about 10 miles notice. I don't want to get stuck on the road watching a tow-truck or flat bead rip off my facia .

No shifting like a jack-ass here and never have/will powershift. The gears are very close, as you said, but some nice upgrades:

Current T3650
3:38
2.00
1:32
1:1
.68
New T-56 model TUET1260 (arrived yesterday, as a matter of fact )
2:97
2:07
1:43
1:1
.8
.62

I am looking at a much more managable 1st gear as well as the HUGE gap between 4th & 5th eliminated. If my trans were fine otherwise, I would have just left it. The price to rebuild mine + downtime was not worth keeping. For an extra $1k, I will have an afternoon of downtime and MUCH better ratios

he has an 03 which is .62 to my knowledge... but yeah.. there is a big gap... its more of an overdrive... when do you need more then 130mph outta a gear when you are running it? i just dont think it is worth him spending that kind of money because he is talkin about power needs and you are talkin about 1st gear and the gap... to me the gap isnt an issue unless your running the texas mile or something... and 1st year... get slicks

I am not searching for new ratios so I can drive faster, but rather have a better "step" between 4th~5th. I really have no use for high-speed driving and not interested in high-power either. Don't go to the 1/4 and don't street race. Don't bang the gears or even see over 5K on the revs. I just HATE the bog that I get going from 4th~5th. I also end up "inbetween" gears on freeway hills and there are LOTS of them around Cali. The 3:38 1st is also quite low running 3:55's so this is an additional rest between it and 2nd on my every-weekend driving

Besides..... When I suggested he just purchase a T-56, it was totally tongue-in-cheek, but didn't come off that way. I just wanted to pimp my new toy

Jazzer The Pimp

OK, back on topic, don't want to high-jack this thread any longer

The T-56 cost me about $2700 to my door. I will need to get a new alum. DS as it is pretty hard to find someone to cut/weld/balance my current one that is 3/4" too long. I found some people to do it, but cost/time prohibitive. Plus, I offered to sell my current one for 1/2 the cost of my new one, to someone on another forum, so not worth the effort to shorten.

There are lots of different gear sets that can be installed in the T-56. The heavier, typically higher-geared sets, go in the Vipers as they will have lower geared rear-end of 3:90's or something. Griggs wanted to build me one with all the heavy-duty goodies, but no need for it so passed.

I just received T-56 yesterday and new cross-member today. Will be installing first of the year and cannot wait until it is all done!

Somehow a t-45 foundits way into my 01 Cobra before I bought at and its taking a shit. I bought a 60k mile TR3650 for 500 bucks shipped and it should be here mid next week. Hope it holds out till I get the AOD when my turbo set up is in place.
