stupid question

ok, so i've had two mustangs during my lifetime; a 1999 gt and a 2004 gt and right around 50k on both of them, i've started to notice what i consider to be "rattling sounds" coming from the rear of the car. it sounds as if it is coming from the back windshield or something, and in addition to it sounding like something is rattling around, it also sounds like something in the rear is stretching (i know that sounds ridiculous but im actually being serious lol) whenever i take off in 1st gear. again, this has happened to me in both mustangs, and i'm almost 100% positive that there isn't anything seriously wrong with it (or my old 99 gt) because it mainly is just something that i consider to be very irritating whenever i'm just wanting to cruise around at low speeds and what not.

in my mind, i think that it's just something that is caused by wear and tear in respect to the rear suspension components, but i felt that id let the experts (you all) know about it and maybe then someone could diagnose where and what it is coming from so that i could either replace it, or just stop worrying about it being something more than simply a "rattle and stretching" noise lol.

does anyone have a clue as to what it is that im talking about?

dont know about the stretching(?) but I had a rattle that I had a hard time finding & it ended up being the inside trunk release thing (little glow in the dark triangle thingy) cord was a little to long & since I don't make a habit of locking myself in the trunk I just took it off.

I hear rattling all the time and figured its just something in my trunk, it might as well be the trunk release, haven't checked.

I know that on the 03/04 Machs there is a metal plate that goes on the front of the wheel tubs and the spot welds break thus causing a lot of noise. You will need to pull the trunk liners from each side to spot the metal plate. Once you find it and if you have a busted weld, you can either re-weld or do like most Mach owners and just take a screw driver and pry the plate away from the wheel tub enough that they will not rub.

Ive had a few come in at work with an odd problem for the cause. Anyways shifting hard 1-2 would cause a loud horrible GRRRRRRR grinding sound. It also happened when hitting bumps etc and was more noticable with more weight in the car and at WOT they would make a rattle more than a quick grind. Turns out where the fuel line runs passed the rear end theres a small plastic part it clips into. On all of them the line had popped out of the clip and when the suspension was pushed up/car pushed down far enough that line would rub on the ears of the drive shaft. Talk about a HORRRRRRIBBBLLLLEEE noise for something that simple.
