It's the pats, and for some reason it's not reading the key.

You will probably have to go to Ford and have a new key programed for it. Or you could get a tuner/chip. Then you or the person who does your tune can switch it off.

i called a dealer and the operator guy said he had no idea, then he forwarded me to some fucking answering machine asking me to make an appointment.

So i have no idea what to do, i guess i'll call a different dealer.

Should i have AAA tow my car to a ford dealer and then have them reprogram the key?

ford will charge higher. go to yellowpages.com and find a key programmer/coppier.

And i'd use sprite to remove that corrosion.

^most of the time it does. Usually it will just turn over and not fire the coils.

With PATS the engine will turn over but not fire. The theft light will blink rapidly. The PCM doesnt recognize the signal from the key so it doesnt tell the coils to fire. Once it reads the signal and it matches the one stored in the PCM, it will fire.

yeah that's whats happening, the light blinks rapidly. How could this have happened? i didn't drown my key or anything lol.

We tried to jump the car and do a rolling start, neither worked, so it isn't the battery.

Anyone know what kind of hell on earth i'm in for? Will i just have to get it towed to the dealership and then they just reprogram my key?

For some reason they just lose their progamming. When I still worked at the dealership they were the only ones that could do pats systems and that was 4 years ago so I dont know nowadays. Back then it was $30 for a key and $30 to program if you only had one key. If you have no keys with a program I believe it was more because they have to tap into the PCM and trick it into thinking that you have a programmed key.

If you have AAA call them and tell them you lost your key. My wife lost her keys and our Road Side Assisstance through GEICO had the car towed to the dealer so they could reprogram the computer with a new key. She had to pay for the keys (she got two) and GEICO paid her back for them.

Ok so i ended up getting towed to the dealership.. they had to cut 2 more keys and it costed me 250 (110 labor and 140 for keys). But at least it works now and i can go home this weekend.
