Thinking about changing my mind
OK, I want to be faster next year, everyone does, I even have a good chance at it but, im having second thoughts. I know someone who wants to sell me their cobra for fairly cheap, everything is there and it is a good deal. For some reason I am starting to think I shouldn't. Doing getting the cobra means I have to wait until ~march before I can start doing anything. I don't want to wait until I can drive my car again before I put it down for a while. Right now, I can get a set of forged internals fairly cheap, and im thinking about doing that, and picking off an ebay supercharger between now and mid spring, running over it, rebuilding it if needed and throwing it on. Either way, I will be faster, hell I thought maybe I would just be fine with ~400hp, maybe I should just boost it to that and save my money. Cobra = termie engine + t56, and that does sound so nice, but I really don't like having to just sit out the winter. I want to be done when its nice enough to drive my car again, and I want to be ready to go. Sad thing is I am even starting to find reasons to not do the cobra swap, like issues with the tq on a DD, and possible issues of parting the car out in a reasonable time. I don't know what to do, none of this is cheap, and about consumes all of my free money. I am redoing almost all of my suspension, redoing the rear end, and that all isn't cheap, but at least its something I can poke at over winter, but knowing my suspension is better wont be enough to keep me happy in spring. Bah, what should I do?

you mentioned that you would be happy with around 400 HP, well with the cobra you wouldnt have to mod at all your already there. If that not powerful enough a simple pully swap and tune and you can get alot more. Definitley worth the money on the cobra, having pacience when modding is key.

Look at it this way. If you go with the Cobra (which I would def do in your position), it is a step up any how right now. So it would be like you are already adding some stuff to the GT to get more power......in other words, instead of lightly modding or supercharging the GT, you get the Cobra for the (roughly) same amount of HP. Then when you are ready for more power in March, mod the cobra and you are already higher than what you would be had you stuck with the GT. Just my $.02

get the cobra...do simple bolt ons (pulley, tune, exhaust, intake) and be in the 11's for under 1,000 or 1,500 bucks...with 450+ rwhp
