i dont think you can get any gauges that you dont have to ttake off the needles to apply. im pretty sure they have to come off. rpm recalibration? why would you need to do that? when you turn your car off, they all set in the resting position so when you put you gauges on, just pin them pack in at the resting position.

You can do it, I bought these from UPR, they are a white face overlay. You can slip them over the needles without taking the needles off, just be really careful, an extra set of hands will help. http://www.uprproducts.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=483

they are pretty cool. You dont need to recalibrate anything or any of that bullshit. Just gotta do the electrical, that probably the hardest part. I used the instructions off americanmuscle.com in their gauge section.

Go for it.

yes, thats what I said. I did just a couple months ago. You move the needles in a way so that you can SLIDE the overlay under them without actually removing them. You stick the needles through the holes, be careful not to snap them off though. You don't need to recalibrate anything though if you do it like that, that what a lot of people do.
