A 275 is WAAAYY too much tire for a 7" wheel

You are looking at a 225 in most brands. You maybe able to get to a 235 if you go high enough profile. Your car will have enough room for that width, just not on that rim.

Really? I'm hoping sweet2kstang will chime in seeing as he has used the v6 wheels before.

If you had a high enough profile, maybe 60 series or something, you may find and acceptable fit, but wouldn't run such a tire on a Stang.

I have no doubt some have run a 275/35 or 40 series tire on a 7" wheel, but bad idea. No above tire I have seen is rated for such a narrow wheel and will stress the sidewall and have poor handling characteristics.

On another note, I have seen a 315 on an 8" wheel reciently and was horrible!

Jazzer

EDIT: I just checked out Nitto homepage real quick like. I found one of their lower end tires in a 275/55/20" rated for a 7.5" wheel. I don't see one finding a lower profile tire in a 275 rated for a 7" wheel, maybe I am wrong.

It'll be more of a track wheel, they will not be on for the street. If it's not safe I won't get them.

Now, if you are looking for a DR or launch tire, that can be a different story. I have no real experience with them, but know they tend to be rated for large contact patch and high profile for sidewall wrinkle.

Look around and see what you find. If it is not for the street, I think you will find something that will fit this need.

i am guessing you are talking about a 275/60/15 555r. it will fit, although i suggest something a little wider. a radial tire will be stiffer on the side walls and try to keep its form. a bias ply is more forgivable with a little bit of a narrow wheel. i was running a 10.50 with a 9in tread section. the 275 is a wider tread section and really needs at least an 8in wheel, but will work on something a little smaller. air pressure will have to be close to exact to keep the tire from cupping or only using center section of tread. if you want to run a v6 wheel for track only, i reccomend going with a bias tire. not only will it fit better, it will stick harder and absorb initial shock on launch. you also have to remember to watch what you buy to mount on the wheel as well. your wheel width should be +/- 1.5-2in of the tread section width.

Thanks for your input! I'm going to try and find a different pair.
