Power seat problem need help!!!

Ok, my GT all the sudden while I was cleaning my car and had the seat up blew the fuse under the hood so now everytime I try puttin a new fuse in it blows. I tried unhooking the battery then puttin in the fuse don't work just blows when the power comes back, tried unhooking the switch and it does the same thing just pops when I hook the wire back up. I can't drive my car now cause the seat is too far up.......can anyone tell me what might be the problem????

Sounds like you got some cleaning fluid inside the motor or something under seat. You have a "dead-short" their somewhere.

Start by disconnecting the power cable under the seat leading to the motor. Now install a new fuse. If it does NOT blow, you have a short somewhere AFTER the point of power connection under the seat. Look around and see if you damaged some wires or got cleaning solution inside a power box. You MAY be able to get lucky and just dry everything out and get 'er goin'.

Good luck!

I have another question I read on the net that you can run a hot wire to the seat to make it move, can anyone tell me how to do that so that I can at least put the seat back to where I can drive it.

If the motor has some type of electrical short, which I believe it does, you will have the same result.

Did you try my above test?

OK, your issue is within the seat electrical components. Running a new power wire WILL NOT get the seat to move and will likely scare the bejesus out of you when it arcs and completely blows the electronics within the seat. DON'T do this!!!

You will likely need to completely remove the seat to figure out what happened. I believe you got some Windex or leather cleaner in the components. You just MAY get lucky and be able to dry off a circuit board to solve your issue. You may also find a bent 12vt "+" connection touching a ground point ("-" connection) on seat frame or something.

If you need to, take the seat out and PM me some pics. Will be happy to help you figure out what is happening as The Jazzer's gotcha back

Sounds like it's time to break out the DMM and wring out the short.
