service engine soon light

on my way to work today the service engine light came on, what could cause this, just changed the oil last week and i just passed emmisions test 3 days ago, plugs arent to old either.

The service engine light can be programmed by the dealer to let you know its time to get service. how long have you had the car? its possible that it wasnt turned off.

ive had the car since 45k, now its 89k and the light just came on, i havnt gona anywhere to find out the code

take it to autozone they will scan you for free.

my SES light has been on for the last 12 months. if it doesnt feel sick, dont take it to the doctor. mine is comming from a small hole on top of the gas tank. but that doesnt mean that i'm gonna break legs to go fix it

Check minor things...did you fill up on gas? If the gas cap isn't closed tight enough that'll throw a code. But the easiest thing to do is to get it scanned and give us the code.

Its hard to say w/o a code. Autozone/advanced/oreily/etc will check it for you for free. See if you can get a code and get back to us.

Speak of the devil mine came on today too while sitting in traffic ...started noticing the idle has become sloppy as of late but then again ...i have 77k and I've never changed the plugs

yea mine came going down the highway at about 75-80, no noticable difference tho, ill get a code n get back to you guys, i did fill up on gas last night tho ill check that

Don't mean to Thread steal but my car is doing the same thing. I have 2001 Mustang GT with 42k I took it to Auto Zone and they said there was no codes is there a way to just reset it??
